Web and Graphic Design
DeCompression is a small web design business; small in size, but big in quality of our output. We have produced literally hundreds of websites of many different types and with many different aims and functions. We can produce any site you want whether you need a dynamic or static site, or an information portal or a community site. We have the experience required to produce any kind of site you are interested in.
Decompression has used our years of experience building web applications to develop 3 key web software applications that are now in high demand online. The first is Simple CMS - a content management system that cuts out all the unnecessary and complicated bits, leaving an easy to administer and search engine friendly CMS that anyone can use. The second web application is the Product Management System - an innovative software application that makes managing large online stores quick and easy. The system includes shopping cart, checkout, customer relations management system, and full administration functions and is also built and designed to be search engine friendly. The third web application is Conference Web Systems - a fully integrated web system for conferences including expression of interest management, abstract submission and approval, online registration including payment processing, and provision of information. Philosophy
Our philosophy is to create simple but effective and beautiful websites that meet your needs. We believe one of the biggest mistakes in web design is to 'over design' the site. Elements such as Flash and rollovers can enhance a site, but should not dominate. The most important factor in design is to effectively meet the aims of the website.
For example, if you had a product site, the most important questions would be:
- How do we increase revenue?
- How do we reduce expenses?
- How do we bring in more customers?
- How do we get more business out of each existing customer?
- How do we increase shareholder value?
We focus on giving your customer what they need or want. Visitors to your website will want one or more of the following three things:
- They want/need information;
- They want/need to make a purchase/donation;
- They want/need to be entertained.
Our job is to design a website that gives the user (or customer) what they want or need. To do this the site should be pleasant to look at, clearly present what the website is about, be easy to navigate, not get in the way of meeting the need or want (the information, the purchase or the entertainment).
Tools
We design sites with a variety of tools and technologies that we believe make your website more effective and efficient (we can use any method you want).
- We design with CSS which results in beautiful website designs, without taking too long to load the web pages. CSS also makes it very easy to update or change the look of the website.
- Another big time saver is the use of PHP to keep all the standard elements of the website in one file, so site-wide changes can be made instantly.
- PHP is also used to create dynamic functionality. We effectively produce software that runs on the internet, so the options are endless. We can make it work in just the way you want it to, increasing your productivity and efficiency. Our experienced programmers believe in object-oriented programming and therefore produce extremely scalable and effective websites.
- Using PHP we can design sites that are easy (and cost effective) to update by a web designer, or that you can update yourself without needing knowledge of web design.
- We use Javascript sparingly (because it is often over used) but it can provide key design features that make your site stand out.
History
DeCompression started in 2004 and originally had a focus on web and graphic design services for events. The directors of DeCompression have extensive experience and qualifications that give them all the skills required to produce exceptional results. DeCompression has grown largely by word of mouth, with lots of satisfied customers who are more than happy to pass on the recommendations to their friends and peers.
